During the COVID-19 pandemic, families that were already in crisis are struggling even more than usual. At A Wider Circle, we have seen firsthand that the health, educational, and economic hardships are dramatic, as are the inequities faced by children and families living in poverty across our country.
In response to this crisis, the team at A Wider Circle has been working intensely so that we could continue to safely serve some of the most vulnerable children and adults in our region. We have made more than 6,000 calls to our clients, helping them access health, housing, and food resources. We have held weekly Zoom meet-ups with Workforce Development clients, volunteer job coaches, and Wider Circle staff. A Wider Circle is also on the ground, distributing food six days a week in neighborhoods hit hard by a scarcity of resources.
In the month of June, we are resuming more of our in-person programming, while continuing to follow the science and working with our Medical Advisor to ensure we do no harm as we do our work.
We look forward we look forward to resuming all of our core services - providing furniture to transform empty spaces into beautiful homes for more than 4,500 families each year, offering comprehensive Workforce Development training both through intensive, week-long bootcamps and one-to-one job-coaching, providing customized and wide-ranging programming from directly within low-income communities, and working to create systemic change by developing a National Plan to End Poverty that engages individuals and institutions across every sector in building solutions.
A Wider Circle annually meets all of the Better Business Bureau’s Standards for Charity Accountability and has the Platinum Seal of Transparency. The organization has been named “One of the Best” three times by The Catalogue for Philanthropy. Learn more about the work of A WIder Circle by visiting www.awidercircle.org.
